Jimmy Chan

Graduate Engineer

Jimmy joined Madsen Giersing as a graduate engineer in 2023 after completing his master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Queensland. He also holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Honours) from Queensland University of Technology, which he completed in 2021.

Originally from Macau, Jimmy moved to Australia to pursue his engineering career and has since embraced Brisbane as his new home. His passion for innovative engineering solutions and a keen interest in complex structural challenges have led him to excel in the marine, bridge, and temporary works sectors at Madsen Giersing.

Jimmy’s academic journey was marked by notable achievements, including his thesis on high-performance concrete and a sustainable bridge design project utilising advanced software. His practical experience includes an internship with a prominent construction management firm, where he honed his skills in project coordination and client consultation. Jimmy now works with the Madsen Giersing team on various infrastructure projects, applying his expertise in structural analysis, design optimisation, and engineering software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and MATLAB. His contributions significantly impact the success of these projects.
